The Focus on Sickle Cell Foundation (FoSCel) has announced a change of venue for the upcoming National Sickle Cell Fun Fair 2026, while maintaining the original date, time and programme of activities.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, and directed at media organisations, schools and key stakeholders, FoSCel explained that the decision followed logistical and operational considerations.
The event, which was earlier announced during a press conference on January 19, 2026, to take place at Ghud Park, Accra Mall, will now be held at Achimota Mall, Accra.
The Fun Fair is scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026 (Valentine’s Day), and will run from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
FoSCel emphasised that the change affects only the venue, stressing that all other aspects of the event, including the date, time and planned activities, remain unchanged.
The National Sickle Cell Fun Fair is being organised by FoSCel in collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and the Ministry of Health, as part of efforts to promote sickle cell awareness, prevention, early detection and healthy living among Ghanaians.
According to the organisers, activities on the day will include free genotype screening exercise for the first 100 participants, health education and counselling on sickle cell disease, interactive health talks, youth engagement sessions, games, music, artist performances and other family-friendly activities.

FoSCel has particularly encouraged young people, students and youth groups to participate actively, highlighting the importance of early genotype testing in making informed life choices and preventing sickle cell disease in future generations.
“Knowing your genotype early empowers informed decisions and contributes significantly to reducing the incidence of sickle cell disease,” the statement noted.
The Foundation has also appealed to media houses and partners to update all publicity materials, announcements and online platforms to reflect the new venue, and to support efforts to mobilise the public for the event.
