The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has moved to dispel circulating rumours about changes to the authority’s licensing and number plate contracts.
In a statement, the DVLA CEO clarified that he has neither signed any new contracts nor terminated any existing agreements related to the production or rollout of new vehicle number plates.
“I would like to clarify recent rumours regarding our licensing systems. As CEO of the DVLA, I have not signed any new contracts nor terminated any existing ones concerning the new number plates. Any claims to the contrary are inaccurate,” he said.
He emphasised that the authority remains committed to transparency and due process, with a continued focus on the integrity of its procurement and operational procedures.
The clarification comes amid heightened public discussion and speculation over reforms within the DVLA’s licensing system, particularly concerning the introduction of new number plates.
Management assured the public and stakeholders that any decisions affecting licensing or procurement will follow established regulations and will be communicated through official channels.
